Unit 1 - HELLO Hello!
Curriculum link: levels 1 and 2 of The New Zealand Curriculum
In this unit, your students will learn about NZSL as a language, explore the differences between signed and spoken languages, learn to use the fingerspelling alphabet, and sign the numbers from one to 10.

- sign the numbers from one to 10.
Two sets of assessment criteria are included. The first set identifies a model that can be used to assess whether the specific learning outcomes have been achieved. The second set is based on the curriculum achievement objectives for learning languages at levels 1 and 2. These criteria measure the students’ ability to communicate in NZSL.
